hey guys, quick question for ya,s i'm new to the upgrading of guns, all i've done is change the barrels on my existing guns to tighbore versions
i'm looking to start a project for something to do in the evenings, i'm goign to get a steyr aug a2 and the hexagon products h bar kit, i was looking at the metal hop up unit and i was also looking at an upgraded spring if necessary and upgrading the gearbox to take a 9.6 or maybe a li po battery, the aug will either be a tokyo marui or jg, then to put a scope on top and spray the black plastic of the aug green, i'll also be putting in a tighbore barrel, i think the kit can take a 600mm barrel, but 590mm seems to be closet i can get my problem is i'm new to the whole upgrading gearboxes and springs, so what would i need to look at to upgrade it to be able to take the higher voltage? or are there already upgraded gearboxes out there? |

systema sell gearboxes but its €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€, aug was the first gun i ever opened, watch the trigger contacts and anti reversal latch though as it can be a pain in the arse lining them all back up to get the gearbox back into 1 piece, mechbox.com is your friend,

i'd kinda like to open it and put new gears and the likes in tol earn how to do it, its the only way to learn, so i'll probably go down that route |

your aug is essentially a standard version 3 gearbox... dont be fooled by fancy bits...
Undo the screws on the motor cage, (two) and the one infront of the trigger c ontacts, that plate lifts off, then its a normal v3 to be honest... Just sorted out one here. Systema gears, piston and cone piston head, spring guide and bushings and its a lovely weapon... standard gearbox shell is nice to be honest, and as its not under the same stress as a v3, upgrading that is pointless. Metal hop for an aug? that exists? tbh, as thats not really under stress, dont bother, though a metal feed nipple would be of more use! |

i found that my ca aug a1 and the tm aug are the exact same, so when i get the hbar kit sorted, i can just bring one base gun when going for a days gaming and have two different barrels which i can swap depending on the type of game to be played |

well i finally got around to doing this
its a classic army body and gearbox, the hexagon products h bar kit, a gunner armouries 6.03 mm barrel, g&p metal hop up, guarder bucking, tm aug a2 receiver with an elcan scope ![]() its shooting at 300fps and i'm thinking of getting a jg aug a3 gearbox, for the cost of upgrading the tm gearbox i have it'd be cheaper and it'd be lipo ready |
